I would like to add my suggestions for the next version or beta, so please everyone feel free to comment. ![]() I also wanted something that integrated with the Windows shell (right-click editting) and literally jumped for joy when I was playing around with Mp3tag Thanks for this.I am a huge music enthusiats along with computers and use both, I was looking for a tagger program with some features like FLAC support, album art and of course batch tagging and I stumbled upon this program within 20 minutes I was pleased. If I'm working within a number of different folders with Mp3tag I'll keep a window open with Windows Explorer and use the Explorer context menu to load individual folders rather than navigate to them within Mp3tag itself. I prefer (by a large margin) to launch Mp3tag using the Windows Explorer shell integration that it (optionally) installs. You can add additional fields such as COMPILATION, ARTISTSORT, ALBUMARTISTSORT, ALBUMSORT and DISCNUMBER to the Tag Panel. It's necessary to then press the 'Save' button when finished editing. To do this: In the columns on the right, first highlight all of the files that you want the edits applied to, then edit the fields within the Tag Panel. It's much easier than entering the same information for every file in the columns. ![]() ![]() Use the 'Tag Panel' (the non-column area on the left) for editing album-wide information such as ARTIST, ALBUM, YEAR, GENRE and ALBUMARTIST. Also some documentation I recall at mp3tag site on names.And. It will take a bit of learning to figure out the names of various fields to use in setting this up, but ask here or at the mp3tag forums and you'll get a quick answer. You right click on the column heading, choose "custom", then you have the opportunity to add custom columns reporting certain info. Work on a single album at a time, or if you organize things by artist\album\track, work on a single artist.Īnd if there are fields that you always want to see, you can customize the columns that are shown. This is seldom necessary, and takes too long to launch every time you want to make some changes. To use it with folders on an NAS or file server, you may have to navigate through 'My Network Places' in Windows Explorer, or you could make a shortcut to \\VORTEXBOX\files\music\flac to use as a starting point for Explorer.ĭon't get into the habit of loading your entire library in Mp3tag. Then to launch Mp3tag, navigate in Windows Explorer to the folder that you want to work on, right-click it, and select Mp3tag. If not, simply run Mp3tag's installer again and make sure that 'Explorer Context Menu' is checked among the components to be installed. If you see 'Mp3tag' in the context menu, then it has been installed. To see whether or not it's been installed, open Windows Explorer, find any directory and right-click the name. ![]() To do this, first you must have installed Mp3tag's Explorer shell integration. in the mp3tag left-pane "Directory:" box.I prefer (by a large margin) to launch Mp3tag using the Windows Explorer shell integration that it (optionally) installs. The selected directory will show up as \\VORTEXBOX\files\music\flac\. mp3tag will load all the music files in the selected folder (directory) for editing.ħ. Navigate to VORTEXBOX -> files -> music -> flac and select the artist or album directory you want to work on.Ħ. In the pop-up window, select VORTEXBOX in the sidebar under the Network section.Ĥ. (or click the "Change directory." icon)ģ.
